The body of 47-year-old Benjamin Kilo was on Tuesday morning found dumped near River Firasti in Butere.
The boda boda rider had gone missing the previous night. It is believed he was attacked as he headed home from work. His motorcycle was found a few metres from where his body lay.
“We were notified of our kin’s death by fellow boda boda riders who were passing by the river yesterday. His body had limb and head injuries,” said his mother Anyango Musa.
Residents confirmed that Kilo’s killing was the third this year at the same spot. Early this year, two bodies were found dumped on the river’s bank.
Residents now fear this could be the return of killings witnessed in the sub-county last year. They accused the area’s community policing committee of sleeping on the job.
However, area chief Caleb Alwang’a denied this, saying the committee regularly updated police on security matters.
