The People Behind the 17-Billion Fake Currency Syndicate at Barclays Bank

Questions about the integrity of Kenyan banks have today risen as Sh17 billion, in fake currency, was on Tuesday afternoon found at Barclays Bank
Queens Way Branch in Nairobi’s Mama Ngina street.

Barclays is an affiliate of Absa, an African financial services company with a global perspective.

Is Barclays Bank involved in printing or facilitating circulation of fake currency? This is the questions a number of Kenyans have been asking after the discovery by the Flying Squad officers.

Well, there are still scanty details about this whole saga but what we can confirm is that police have made arrests of people they believe are linked to the billions of shillings.

Business was brought to a standstill when the officials ambushed the suspects.

Three people are currently in police custody; one foreigner and two Kenyans.
