KMPDU calling for the return of doctors still in Cuba

The president of all health workers worldwide Dr Ouma Oluga under the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union umbrella have released a statement on the death of Kenyan doctor Hamisi Ali Juba who died in Cuba.

Ouma and team are calling for the return of doctors who are still in Cuba following an exchange program but their stay has has been exposed as devastating.

“The Kenyan-Cuba arrangement has left Kenyan doctors vulnerable,frustrated and in deplorable conditions.This follows failure by the Kenyan government to secure proper housing pay the promised allowances and allow the doctors to reconnect with their families.

The KPMDU can authoritatively report that Dr Hamisi Ali Juma had expressed desire to terminate the program for the reasons mentioned above,”reads part of their statement.

The Ministry of Health has announced the death of Doctor Hamisi Ali Juma in Cuba.

Juma was one of the 50 doctors sent to Cuba under government sponsorship to study family medicine in the framework of the memorandum of understanding between Kenya and the Caribbean nation.

The circumstances of his death remain unknown and the matter is currently under investigation by Cuban authorities. The deceased doctor was a brother of Likoni MP Mishi Mboko.
