How 17 billion fake Currency was used to Divert Attention from Turkana Drought

Flying Squad intercept Ksh.2 billion in a safe inside Barclays Bank

Kenyans have a way of moving on very fast. In the morning we could be an a heated discussion about whether William Ruto will be President and in mid morning our attention will switch to a leaked sex video.

This week, social media has been awash with images of emaciated people in Turkana County affected by acute drought; lack of food and water.

It is estimated that at least 10 people have died from hunger. But the government denied this on Monday, even as William Ruto said 2 billion has been released for victims.

But as angry Kenyans took to social media to criticize the government for failing to cab seasonal droughts, another big scandal broke; 17 billion fake currency had been nabbed at Barclays Bank.

To be honest, the police have not confirmed if this is true but the story has gone viral like the Mt. Kenya forest fire.

Kenyans like sensational news, and there is nothing better for them to feed on like this fake currency story. We don’t question anything.

Stay woke. That alleged 17 Billion shilling fake currency discovered at Barclays Bank, allegedly, could well be distraction from the Hunger crisis gripping parts of Kenya and government failure to mitigate the pangs of starvation.— Saddique Shaban (@SaddiqueShaban) March 19, 2019

Barclays bank is an international bank, it is the last place anyone would try to take fake currency.

Just like that, we have forgotten about the Turkana Hunger drought. I am sure that no money was found at the Bank.
