Good News:Over 400 screened for kidney diseases at Aga Khan for free

Kenyans were on Monday Screened for Kidney diseases for free at Aga Khan hospital.

This year’s theme dubbed “Kidney Health for Everyone Everywhere” aims to highlight the growing burden of kidney disease and kidney health disparity and inequity worldwide.

To mark World Kidney Day, Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi offered free screening for kidney disease to members of the public who turned up at the main hospital on third Park-lands avenue.

Over 400 participants were screened for blood sugar, blood pressure, urine analysis and Body Mass Index including free consultation and advice on nutrition to ensure healthy kidneys.

According to the World Kidney Day organization approximately 850 million people worldwide are estimated to have kidney disease with the highest cause being chronic kidney disease.

Chronic kidney disease causes at least 2.4 million deaths per year  making it the 6th largest fastest growing cause of death.
