Non Kenyans who have been in the country illegally were on Friday arraigned before a Maralal court and charged with the offence.
The seven Congolese were arrested on March 14, 2019 at a one-roomed house they had rented in Allamano area.
Suspicious residents alerted the Nyumba Kumi members about the ‘strange’ men.
In their defense, the accused said they were refugees and presented papers allegedly issued by the United Nations (UN).
Maralal Senior Resident Magistrate Abraham Gachie directed the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to verify the documents.
The magistrate further directed that the accused to be remanded at Maralal Police Station until Tuesday, March 19, 2019 when the documents will have been verified
