Plot to assassinate Ruto? DP’s ally issue worrying claims

Deputy President Dr William Ruto’s allies have taken a new twist in defending their key man’s 2002 presidential bid. After receiving lots of criticism from various leaders, his Ruto allies have now adopted a new way of fighting their enemies.

Their claims that Ruto is being targeted in war against graft seem not to have worked well. The head of Tanga Tanga crusaders, the Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has sensationally claimed that those plotting to block Ruto from ascending to the presidency are out to stop at nothing to achieve their goal.

The lawmaker has claimed that Ruto’s political enemies have hatched a plot to assassinate him if the scheme to portray him as corrupt does not succeed.

“They have been scheming all manner of things and we know even plans to kill him cannot be ruled out,” Sudi was quoted by The Star.

The local daily demanded to know the seriousness of the lawmaker’s claims and he was fast to say Ruto’s adversaries were determined to stop him from taking over the presidency in 2022.

He further dismissed the DPP Noordin Haji’s publicised breakdown of graft list by ethnic groups.

He said the figures were fake and made up by DCI George Kinoti to hoodwink the public that Kikuyus top the list of those charged with corruption. He said it was “manufactured by DCI George Kinoti to confuse Kenyans seeking the truth”.

Kalenjin leaders have been crying foul that the escalated fight against corruption is to settle political scores ahead of the 2022 election.
