A Murang’a family ,Kiharu constituency is mourning the death of 76 years granny who killed self by jumping into 20 feet pit latrine.
According to family members,the granny had not shown any signs of mental illness to the time of death.
Some members suspect that she might have been pushed to the pit latrine which was just few metes from her house.
The family members of Damaris Wambui Macharia said they are shocked and they have been left reeling in shock as they tried to come to terms.

According to family sources,, the deceased spent the night calling her granddaughter whom they share a room on several occasions to come to her bedside but she could not state the reasons for calling her.
“A few minutes after 6am, she went to her granddaughter’s bed and woke her up and handed a mobile phone to her with remarks that the phone will now be hers,” the source said.
Her husband, Moses Macharia, said she was informed of her death by his grandchildren while busy serving customers at a kiosk located near his home off the Murang’a – Mugoiri- Kahuro road.
“I sleep in a separate room while she sleeps in the same room with the granddaughter who takes care of her by ensuring she takes her medication. The last time we saw each other was last night and she was okay. I then went to the pit latrine and confirmed and after seeing her body, I went to make a report at Kahuro police station,” said Macharia.
The family is now waiting for a postmortem result to reveal what exactly happened.
The date for burial hasn’t been announced.
