A lobby group has appealed to the government to abolish the Ksh 1,00 and 500 note as one way of fighting graft.

According to the Center for Human Rights and Democracy (CHRD) Kipkorir Ngetich many people had stolen money and hidden it outside the banks and by ambolishing the notes those hiding money in their houses will be caught.

“There are so many people who have stolen billions of shillings and stashed the money under beds, in holes, bunkers and other areas. Much of the stolen money is in Sh1,000 and Sh500 notes,” Ngetich said

In addition to his statement, the war on graft will get a major boost if the government targets money hidden in homes and that stashed abroad by the corrupt.

He further applauded the President for supporting independent institutions in fighting graft.

“As Kenyans we must support efforts by the President and the independent institutions because it’s only through such that we will salvage our country from politics,” Ngetich said.

He said those criticising the President over the war on graft were themselves suspects and  feared being caught.

His remarks comes a time when DP Ruto’s allies have been accusing the president of targeting the Kalenjin Community in fighting corruption.

According to the kalenjin leaders the motive of targetting the DP is to discourage him from running for President come 2022 general election.
