I dont get directive from the president, DPP Haji reveals

Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji and his counterpart Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti now have more enemies than friends following their commitment to back Prersident Kenyatta in fighting graft.

While speaking in a local TV interview the DPP vowed to continue performing his duties as delegated and serving justice without fear or favour.

In addition he said he will not be manipulated more so on matters corruption which he is currently more involved in.

His remarks came after some leaders claimed that he has been working under the president and AU leader’s orders to fight a certain community.

He further clarified saying that he does not get orders from anyone to do his job neither from the President of his Deputy President.

The chief prosecutor said that he would readily reject such temptations and dishonor such directives even in the instance that they come from the highest office in the nation.

“I have never received a call from either the president or his deputy telling me what to do, If such a call comes I would refer them to the constitution. I would remind them that they swore to defend it,” he said

This comes at a time when Haji’s office and that of the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti have been on the spotlight with regards to the ongoing purge on graft.

The two have taken over as the most relied on institutions to fight the runaway corruption in the nation and have been praised and condemned in equal measure.
