A Form Two student from Kangaru High School in Embu died after he was allegedly beaten by a teacher sparking police to launch investigations.

According to sources, Kennedy Fundi Nyaga, met his death as a result of being hit on the limbs and head by his Mathematics teacher after he got to class late last week.

Embu County Director of Education Stephen Kairu said they are probing the case after claims that the Kangaru High School student was hit with a broomstick, suffered severe injuries and later died.

Mr. Kairu said that his office received information about the boy on Sunday, March 10, 2019 while he was undergoing treatment at Nairobi Women Hospital where he had been rushed to.

The CDE said that the allegations are yet to be substantiated since the boy could have died of other complications but added that investigations will reveal what happened to the student.

Mr. Kairu noted that he was expecting a report on the investigations which will be forwarded for further action from top education ministry officials.

On his part, Kangaru School principal Kiminda Wambugu said that the matter has been forwarded to the county Education office which is now in charge of the matter.

He urged the media to seek further information from the county of education.

Relatives are however demanding justice for the boy who is said to be an orphan.
