National under 19 cricket team has stepped up training at Ruaraka sports club ahead of the Africa division one 2020 World cup qualifiers slated for 15th – 24th this month in ?Windhoek? Namibia.
The team is expected to leave the country this Friday for the continental showpiece.
The national team is currently training at Ruaraka sports club under the watchful eye of former Kenyan international Jimmy Kamande.
The tactician says the youngsters are in tip top shape and ready to challenge for the sole ticket to the 2020 World cup.
He singled out Captain Sukhdeep Singh who has brought in the needed experience in the team.
Singh is the only remaining member of the Kenyan team that participated at the 2018 U-19 World Cup in New Zealand where the country had a poor run, registering a single win against Papua New Guinea.
In Namibia, Kenya will open her campaign against perennial nemesis Uganda this Sunday then take on Nigeria, Tanzania, Sierra Leone and hosts Namibia.
In 2017, Kenya booked a ticket to the 2018 World Cup after a convincing win over Uganda in Nairobi.
Meanwhile, Kenya Open defending champion Lorenzo Gagli is hopeful of retaining his title when the event kicks off Thursday through to Sunday at the Karen Country club in Nairobi.
Kenya will be represented by 14 players.
The 14 Kenyan players were picked based on their ranking during the 2018/19 Safari Tour series with Greg Snow emerging as the highly ranked pro amongst the Kenyan legion.
