A friend turn foe to deputy president William Ruto has raised political atmosphere in Kisii County after declaring that he is fit to succeed governor James Ogwae comes 2022.
Speaking to a local radio station Kitutu Chache South Richard Onyonka said that he won’t defend his seat as he is the best to take over the county leadership after the incumbent retires.
The MP said no situation will deter his ambitions of serving his people noting that he has the requisite skills and experience in leadership.
“I will run for the gubernatorial seat no matter what, so anyone who wants to grab the sit that I currently hold is welcomed once I hand it over to the people,” Onyanka said.
The MP said he isn’t worried to lose it but he will be on the ballot noting that the people will elect him.
“There are youthful people in Kitutu Chache South who should go for the MP seat. Now that I’m exiting to run for a bigger seat, rivals will have free time to try their luck to succeed me,” he stated.
His sentiments come barely a day after he publicly announced that he won’t campaign for the DP in the region.
The MP said that he had declared total support for the DP presidential ambitions come but he has reserved the support considering that the DP is very corrupt.
“I had declared to support the DP comes 2022, but I have changed my mind, his name has been soiled due to corruption allegations scandals involving him and his lieutenants’,” he was quoted saying.
Political pundits state that the time will tell whether the two leaders will reach up for an agreement or whether the animosity will escalate.
