Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa should apologize to the Orange Democratic Movement if she wants to be spared from her ouster from the party, according to AU envoy Raila Odinga.

Mr Odinga stated that Msambweni lawmaker Suleiman Dori had already apologized as he urged Jumwa to follow suit.

Last week, Jumwa was expelled from ODM while Dori was spared in the final decision by the party’s National Governing Council.

She had vowed to move to the court to protest her ouster stating: “We shall follow the law and all legal procedures to ensure we move to court and file a petition.”

ODM’s National Governing Council during a meeting had unanimously ratified the party’s disciplinary committee finding that she was disloyal.

The Malindi MP was accused of openly showing disrespect to the party leader and insinuating she had decamped from the party and aligned herself with Deputy President William Ruto.L

According to a letter from ODM, Jumwa was quoted by several media outlets cutting her ties with the party.

Part of the letter by ODM read: “In the same meeting, you are quoted to have said: ‘I have no contract with ODM’. The pronouncements are tantamount to a declaration of termination or intention to terminate your membership in the party”.

In her defence, Jumwa argued that their association with DP Ruto was in line with the Building Bridges Initiative which was a creation of their Mr Odinga together with President Kenyatta.
