Ethiopia Airlines' plane crash: Passenger missed flight because he was two minutes late

Who nknew being late can actually save youe life. Antonis Mavropolus, a Greek citizen, said that he would have been the 150th passenger on the Ethiopian Boeing plane if he was not two minutes late. The Greek citizen could barely believe his luck and kept saying he was completely fortunate to be alive.

According to Daily Mail, Antonis said he was initially mad he missed his flight because he could not get anyone to help to the gate on time. He was is the president of the International Solid Waste Association and was traveling to Nairobi to attend a United Nations (UN) event.

The lucky guy said he tried booking an immediate flight after missing the first one but was not allowed to do so.He was taken to the police station for questioning since he was the only passenger not on board the crashed aircraft. Antonis wanted to protest but police told him to instead thank God has was the only one who missed the crash.

“They led me to the police station at the airport. The officer told me not to protest but to pray to God because I was the only passenger that did not board the ET 302 flight,” he said.

At least 157 people died during the Sunday, March 9, plane crush with 32 Kenyan citizens aboard. The ill-fated aircraft crashed six minutes after take off more than 50km away from the country’s capital, Adis Ababa. The airline said it lost contact with the plane at around 8.44am local time. The aircraft took off at 8.38am. Office of the Prime Minister of ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed was the first to confirm the accident via Twitter.
