Kenyans are blessed: CITAM made 1B shillings from its congregation

Despite having a large flock across the country, the Catholic church been overtaken and not found its way to financial league.

In 2015, top five richest churches in Kenya made a whooping Sh 2 billion.

Christ Is the Answer Ministry (Citam), which has 15 branches across the country and also runs a five schools under their name, attained a leading figure of Sh 1 billion collected in offerings and tithes.

According , the statements made public show that the gross earnings of four of these churches with huge following in Nairobi, topped Sh 2 billion in 2015 alone.

-Nairobi Chapel got a total income of Sh 440 million, while the All Saints Cathedral Church made Sh 190 million from offering and tithes.
Mavuno Church, made up to Sh 290 million whereas,
Nairobi Baptist Church received Sh 90 million from its congregants.

There were new rules set by the government that churches will be required to file their annual financial returns with audited accounts for the financial year. The churches also give a declaration of the assets and liabilities and bank statements of all accounts.
