The Kenyan and Ethiopian governments will fly family members of the victims of the Ethiopian plane crash to Addis Ababa as plans to identify their remains get underway.
Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia says the government has reached out to the families of 25 victims out of the 32 Kenyans who perished in the Sunday morning crash.
Macharia spoke even as the Ethiopian Airlines announced that it had grounded all Boeing 737 max aircrafts as a precautionary measure following the Sunday morning plane crash.
As families and friends of the 32 Kenyans who perished in Ethiopia come to terms with the sad reality, plans are underway to fly some of them to Addis Ababa.
In a joint press briefing Transport CS Macharia and Ethiopian Airlines’ Kenya country manager, Yilma Goshu says they have already made contact with families of 25 victims.
The Ethiopian Airliner has also grounded all its Boeing 737 Max Aircrafts just hours after China announced that it too had grounded her planes as a precautionary measure.
The Airliner also announced on Monday that the black box of the ill-fated flight had been recovered as efforts to piece together clues as to what may have happened to the plane begin.
The Kenyan Embassy in Ethiopia had set up a help desk near Bole International Airport to assist families of the victims of the Ethiopian plane crash.
The Ethiopian Aircraft lost contact at 08:44 am on Sunday, just six minutes after take-off from Bole International Airport before crashing and killing all 157 people on board.
