Woman behind dumping infant in Nairobi slum arrested after 100k reward announced

A woman who delivered a bouncing baby boy and abandoned him after tying the baby with a tight rope on the neck, maybe trying to hang strangle him to die has been arrested.

In post on social media, Mike Sonko said that the baby was rescued by a good Samaritan and rushed to Mukuru kwa Reuben Maternity Hospital where the rope on the neck was removed and some first aid done on him.

However due to the condition of the infant who was left for the dead, he was transferred to Mama Lucy Hospital where doctors are trying to save his life.

The matter which was reported at Mukuru kwa Reuben Police Post Vide OB No. 32/9/3/2019 is now under investigation.

In a statement to Kenyans.co.ke, Nairobi County Communication Director, Elkana Jacob, revealed that the police caught up with the mother and another woman who helped her in dumping the baby.

The Nairobi governor strongly condemned the vice and had offered a reward of 100,000/= to anyone was willing to offer police information to bring to justice the person behind the heinous act.

” I wish instead of doing this to an innocent angel the mother had come reached out to well-wishers for help in raising him. Let’s pray for the baby to survive and lives to achieve the purpose for which God created him.” Sonko said
