Uhuru appoints steel man to lead Egerton University

President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed billionaire investor Narendra Raval as the new chancellor of Egerton University.

Naval, otherwise called Guru, is the administrator of the family-owned Devki Group, which possesses a few organizations, including National Cement and Devki Steel Mills. Devki is primarily involved with the manufacture of construction materials

The firm, which is East Africa’s biggest in the manufacture of building materials, trades metal sheets to different markets in the area, for example, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo and Burnndi.

President Kenyatta also by Prof Joseph Ndung’u whom he picked as the new chancellor of the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

They will both serve a five-year term.

A year ago, Raval kicked things off on a multi-billion plant in Kwale, promising to make in excess of 1,000 direct employment.

The plant, which is set to be finished in the following two years, is relied upon to produce an expected 9,000 aberrant occupations.
