A celebrated secular musician Maggie Sonnie has opened up on how she lost a husband and a brother in a road accident but later came to know it 3 months after the burial.
She states that in august 2007,will always remain a dark day after she was admitted at Tumutumu Hospital after her 6 months pregnancy developed complications.
She states that her hubby John Maina and brother Douglas Mwangi drove together from Nairobi to see her but they were involved in a deadly accident along Kenol -Murang’a highway.
The two from Mukurweini worked in same company. Their journey to Nyeri ended at Karigu-ini along Murang’a-Kenol road. The Subaru they were traveling in had a head-on collision with a trailer. They perished there.
Upon discharged,sonnie couldn’t believe when she found graves and a heartbreaking account of what happened and why it was kept secret to her. She was shattered, outraged that she fell sick.
“I didn’t know what to do next or who to blame. Today I am yet to heal. I kept their photos away because they bring sad memories. But I feel like the two went on a journey and will come back. At times I go through depressing moments” Sonnie narrates.
