Police arrest mother who dumped her one day old baby

Police have arrested a mother who dumped her one-day-old baby at Mukuru Kwa Reuben dumpsite yesterday.

The hunt for the mother began after Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko pleaded with the public to help the police with information that will link them to the people behind the heinous act.

K24 reports confirm that the woman has today been arrested and is now being grilled by police.

Yesterday, the Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko had revealed that the baby had been tied with a tight rope when he was rescued by a good Samaritan.

The baby boy was then rushed to Mukuru kwa Reuben Maternity Hospital where the rope on the neck was removed and some first aid done on him.

He was later transferred to Mama Lucy Hospital  since his condition was worrying.

Sonko had yesterday condemned the incident and he offered a reward of 100,000/= to anyone who will provide the police with relevant information.

To mark his word, K24 reports that the Governor is set to award the person who led to the woman’s arrest.

The Governor also expressed his frustration over the issue stating that the mother would have reached out to ask for help in raising the child instead of committing such an act to an inhumane innocent soul.
