Kibera man admits to assaulting his wife to bring her back to her senses

A Kibera man left  Resident Magistrate  Regina Mutuku and those present in court in shock after admitting to assaulting his wife.

Martin Mutambo denied the charges that he assaulted his wife but told Kibera Resident Magistrate Regina Mutuku that he was only making his wife to come back to her senses.

He said that every time he was away on night duties the wife sneaked and slept outside their house.

It is alleged that the accused assaulted Beatrice Nyambura on February 17 at Kangemi within  Nairobi County contrary to the law.The wife after then got angered by the incidence and decided to report the matter to the police leading to his arrest.

The Magistrate released him on a bond of Sh 50,000 and a Cash bail of Sh 30,000 pending the hearing of the matter on May 5.

Elsewhere AP Sergent was arrested after shooting the dead man in Keiyo South during a quarrel over a woman at Flax market in Elgeyo Marakwet County last night.

The incident occurred outside a pub where the officer used his gun during a confrontation with the deceased and several other people who were present.

CID Boss in Keiyo South Samwel Otieno confirmed that 25-year-old Philemon Salwa Mugambi died at the Moi Referral Hospital where he was rushed after he was shot by AP Sergeant Justus Kirimi attached to Railways AP camp near Flax centre.“We have arrested the officer and taken the gun from him”, said Otieno.

He said the officer used a pistol to shoot the victim on the head causing the death.
