Groom weds in hospital bed after surviving robbery on eve of ceremony

A bride in a formal wedding gown and veil carrying a pink rose bouquet walked down an aisle of a different kind in Cape Town on Sunday – meeting her wounded groom in hospital.

Muneer Hercules was rushed to hospital after being injured in an alleged armed robbery at home on Saturday night – the eve of his wedding to Maryam Kallie. They therefore decided to wed at the Melomed Gatesville Hospital on Sunday, March 10 .

According to Facebook user Melomed Gatesville, Hercules was rushed to the hospital after he sustained injuries during an armed robbery at home on Saturday, March 9. “This morning, Muneer Hercules and Maryam Kallies performed their Nikkah in front of family and friends at Melomed Gatesville Hospital. Muneer was attacked at his home last night during an alleged robbery and was rushed to hospital.” Melomed wrote.

However, the couple did not let the incident stop their special day and they held their Nikkah, a Muslim wedding ceremony, at the hospital. In a bunch of photos that can reduce the strongest human to tears, the pair sat side by side as a few loved ones watched them profess their love.

Maryam was dressed in a beautiful, pearly white wedding dress and held onto a gorgeous bouquet as she walked down the hospital hall. Her makeup was perfectly done and her face sparkled with the innocence of an eager yet nervous bride. Her groom lay on the hospital bed perhaps thanking God for blessing him with a dedicated woman who stuck with him through the thickest of times.
