Arsenal Apologize to Man United

Just as Arsenal scored their second goal of the afternoon against Man United, a ‘supporter’ invaded the pitch to celebrate with his team.

Unfortunately, Chris Smalling was his obstacle and he had to push United’s centre-back on his run to his team:

The reports claim that the man who invaded the pitch was arrested.

Arsenal condemned the actions of the fans, Unai Emery said on the matter: “I don’t want that. It is not in my control, I think we can enjoy the support, today I think they helped us but we need to do it with respect.”

An Arsenal spokesman also commented on this situation:

“We utterly condemn the behaviour of the individual who ran onto the pitch and approached Chris Smalling during today’s match. We would like to apologize to Chris and Manchester United, and are pleased that the individual was apprehended and arrested. We will be working closely with the Metropolitan police in their investigation. The individual will also be banned from Arsenal matches home and away. Our matchday staff receive ongoing training on managing incidents such as this.”
