How Ethiopian Plane crashed after it took off at 8:38 am heading to Nairobi

According to an accident bulletin issued on on March 10th, Ethiopian airlines says it regrets to confirm that its flight ET 302/10 march in schedule service from Addis Ababa to Nairobi was involved in an accident around Bishoftu (Debe Zeit).

The aircraft B-737-800MAX with registration number ET-AVJ took off at 08:38 am local time at Addis Ababa, Bole international airport and lost contact at 8:44 am.


First word of the crash came when Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed expressed his “deepest condolences” on Twitter.

“We hereby confirm that our scheduled flight ET 302 from Addis Ababa to Nairobi was involved in accident today,” the airline said in a statement on Sunday.

“It is believed that there were 149 passengers and eight crew on board the flight but we are currently confirming the details of the passenger manifest for the flight.”

The Boeing 737 plane carried 149 passengers and eight crew members. It was scheduled to depart Addis Ababa in Ethiopia at 08:15 and land in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, at 10:25, according to Flight Radar, a website tracking air traffic.
