Madrid board considering Clarence Seedorf for interim coaching role

Former Real Madrid player and current Cameroon coach, Clarence Seedorf, you have joined the list of possible candidates to immediately replace Santiago Solari on an interim basis. The Dutch coach was in Madrid this week to watch The Whites took on Ajax at the Santiago Bernabéu and attended an official board of directors’ dinner that took place at the Zalacaín restaurant in the Spanish capital.

There was the opportunity to chat with Florentino Pérez and other members of the board of directors, who were interested in his current professional situation. After the meeting, Seedorf was added to the board’s list of possible candidates to take charge until the end of the season. The 42-year-old, who played for Madrid from 1996 to 1999, is understood to be valued by the board because of his leadership skills, his charisma and the great reputation he holds among fans at the Bernabéu – which gives him a similar profile to that of Zidane.

Seedorf also has experience of coaching in Spain, where he managed Deportivo La Coruña last season from February to the end of the campaign, overseeing 16 games. Although his experience in La Coruna did not end well, as he could not save the club from relegation, the players, the board and Sports fans still hold him in great esteem. The Cameroon coach could be the ideal emergency solution to take over the team on an interim basis from next week after the anticipated dismissal of Solari following Madrid’s game against Valladolid on Sunday.

Depending on the results of the final stretch of the season, the club could choose to extend its contract beyond June 30 or end it in favor of bringing in another option to take permanently from the next season, with Zidane, Mourinho and Klopp among the most desired targets.
