DCI detectives arrest Police Chief inspector and others for bribing immigration officers as human trafficking syndicate is nabbed

Flying Squad Detectives on Friday evening arrested four people, among them a Chief Inspector of Police, who were impersonating Immigration Department officers, according to Directorate of Criminal investigation.

The four; Chief Inspector Kennedy Omondi, Stanilus Otieno, Eddie Obwaka and Boniface Omengi were arrested while trying to extort a KES 2 Million bribe.

The arrests followed a report made by the complainants whose passports and other documents had been confiscated by the said ‘immigration officers.’

They asked for a bribe of KES 10 Million and were going to collect KES 2 Million when they were nabbed by Detectives.

Two escaped while a Pistol and ammunition were recovered.

This follows a Wednesday case where a Kenyan Human Trafficker; Francis Njuguga Kagunda was also arrested by DCI Detectives and his two Burundian victims; 29-year-old Nduwimana Gretta and 31-year-old Nzigimana Rebecca rescued.

The two were intercepted as they prepared to board a plane to Saudi Arabia.
