Angry Ole Gunnar Solskajaer Goes to Court

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was not very happy to see his face on the front page of The Evening Standard advertising for Paddy Power, a notorious betting company. Norwegian source NRK were conducting an interview with Ole on Friday and showed him the relevant bit in the paper.

Of course, Paddy Power never asked Ole’s permission to use his image in their ad. The allusion is to the politics, namely to Britain Prime Minister Theresa May whose actions haven’t pleased too many people. Solskjaer is seen as a successful miracle-worker in this context.

If there is anything I should not have anything to do with, it is a betting company,” Ole told NRK. ”They are going to have big problems with me. I promise you will this will be sent in by my lawyer.”

Can’t love him any more. Now my heart is full. A man of principle in a world of hucksters.— dermot mc partland (@dermotmcp7) March 8, 2019

Lawyer Erik Flagan tells Paddy Power to expect a compensation claim: ”This case will be handled by our English partner. We recommend that the business community, all the time you should be tempted to use Solskjaer’s name and image in a commercial context, think again – before you come into an unfortunate situation in the form of violation of Solskjær’s rights.”

In case you wonder how notorious Paddy Power are, Paul Ince writes for them, including all of his recent ‘I-would’ve-done-the-same-thing-as-Ole’ stuff.
