Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has highlighted women empowerment as one of the key agenda of his county government.
Kingi stated that as a government, they have taken deliberate measures which include striking a gender balance in public office appointments so as to empower women and actively engage them in building a dynamic and inclusive Kilifi County community.
The Governor was addressing the residents during the International Women’s Day Celebration in Ganze Sub-County.
Amason Kingi lauded the women in Kilifi County for taking a leading role in ensuring Kilifi becomes a better place especially in education and leadership matters.
The governor commended they for their efforts saying that women play an important role that cuts across economic, social, political matters.
He also added that the County Government of Kilifi is furthering opportunities for women by supporting self-help groups and advancing credit to finance start-ups small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Other leaders who were also part of the celebrations include Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa among others.
