Will Huduma namba sail through? Case turned to Maraga as Kenyans read malice

Do you support the idea of Huduma namba? Do you either know what it means to you as a Kenyan? Well, the High Court has referred the case seeking to stop new registration of persons by the Ministry of Interior to the Chief Justice to empanel a bench to hear it.

Justice Weldon Korir on Friday said the case raises serious constitutional matters of law that should be heard by a bench.

The case which has three different petitioners has been consolidated into one case.

The petitioners challenging the NIIMS system include Nubians Society, Kenya National Human Rights and Kenya Commission of Human Rights.

They all want the court to suspend process which according to the ministry commences on April 2.

The government had announced that that the pilot program will be launched in 15 counties before proceeding to the rest of the counties.

Some of the counties are; Nairobi, Baringo, Makueni, Embu, Marsabit, Uasin Gishu, Nyandarua, Kajiado, Marsabit, Tana River, Busia, and Kilifi.
