Mike Sonko urges men in the National Assembly to support the Gender Bill

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has today encouraged men in the National Assembly to support the Gender Bill.

His remarks comes as part of celebration of the International Women’s day.

The Governor lamented that every time the Bill comes for a vote, they walk out leading to lack of quorum.

He also maintained that women legislators should not get tired of pushing for this Bill.

He also asked men of goodwill to turn up and be counted the next time it comes up for voting.

The bill seeks to bridge the gender disparity in parliament by providing for extra nomination slots for women.

The Constitution says that no gender shall be more than two thirds both in elective and appointive positions in public service.
