Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is smashing records for fun at Manchester United.
Earlier this week the interim boss became the first manager to overturn a home-leg 2-0 deficit in the Champions League era, in only his second game in the competition, after as his troops stunned PSG 3-1 in the return fixture.
Solskjaer enjoyed the greatest ever start by a Man Utd manager after overseeing six wins from his opening six games – surpassing the legendary Sir Matt Busby – while he’s since gone on to accumulate 32 points from a dozen top-flight games, more than any Premier League manager after the same amount of matches.
And let’s not forget the nine away wins on the spin.
Now, the Norwegian has another record in his sights.
Back in November Chelsea’s Maurizio Sarri created history after he became the first manager to go unbeaten in his opening 12 Premier League matches at a single club. The Blues boss broke the previous tally of 11 games, achieved by Frank Clark (Nottingham Forest) during the 1994/95 season.
However, Sarri could now be set to be eclipsed just five months later by Solskjaer who can leapfrog the Italian in the record books should Man Utd avoid defeat at Arsenal on Sunday.
If the Red Devils come out on top at the Emirates he’ll also hit that magic 10 successive wins on the road mark – in all competitions – while a triumph in the capital will soar his side four points clear of the Gunners.
Solskjaer still has a long way to go if he’s to ever topple another Premier League record, with Arsene Wenger memorably going a staggering 49 matches unbeaten at Arsenal, which the Frenchman set between May 2003 and October 2004.
