Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola remains a big fan of VAR despite the new technology going in favor of rivals Manchester United against Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League this week.
The new technology saw United awarded a late penalty with Marcus Rashford converting from the spot to send his side to the next stage. A number of coaches, including former referees as well as pundits, have questioned VAR’s decision but Guardiola seems okay with the tech.
“We suffered it in Schalke so we don’t need to take a look what happened this week in the Champions League,” he said.
“I’m a fan of this technology. It’s to help the referees. I think UEFA is going to analyze at the end of the season if the situation is going bad, going good. But all the intention of this is to help the referees make fewer mistakes, that’s all.”
