St. Josephs Nyabigena High school form 4 student to face murder charges

Following the death of one form three student at  St. Josephs Nyabigena High school who was allegedly beaten to death by a form four student, the suspect will be arraigned in court on Friday to be charged over murder charges, Kisii police commander Martin Kibet has said.

He said police have completed probe over the death of Kevin Gesaini Omwando aged 16 years.

The suspect Isaiah Bernard Marinya was on Wednesday last week arraigned at Ogembo law courts where detectives requested for more five days to probe the incident.

He appeared before Resident Magistrate Gloria Barasa who ordered the suspect be detained at Nyamarambe police station.

“The suspect will be arraigned in court on Friday because investigations are complete. He will be charged over the murder,” said Kibet.

He appealed to school head teachers not to allow prefects to beat other students.

“Teachers should not give powers to prefects to beat other students. Marinya’s case should be the last one tobe reported,” he noted.

Omwando died at Tabaka Mission hospital where he had been rushed for treatment after he collapsed in school following the beating he received from Marinya.
