He hasn’t even healed for the last visit and he is back in R Kelly is back behind bars for allegedly failing to pay £121,000 child support.
The troubled singer, 52, was taken into custody today during a hearing in Chicago in which he was accused of falling behind on payments to his ex-wife.
The Chicago Sun Times reports Kelly, full name Robert Kelly, was held by officials over a debt of more than £121,000.
The publication states Cook County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Kelly will remain behind bars until he coughs up the money.
After the hearing, his publicist Darryll Johnson told reporters that Kelly was prepared to hand over up to $60,000 of the money today.
He said: “He came here in good spirits expecting to walk out.
“He came here to make some arrangements with what he had.”
Johnson added the singer was “depressed, deflated, [and] upset” about being sent back to jail.
The judge overseeing the case previously said Kelly would be jailed if he failed to hand over the full amount by today’s court date.
His next court hearing is set for March 13.
The news is a fresh blow to the troubled star, who has been out on $1million bail on sex abuse charges in a separate case.
He’s currently embroiled in a legal fight as he faces 10 charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse against four women, three of whom were minors.
The pop star hit headlines when he talked about the charges for the first time in a shocking TV interview.
He denied the charges and insisted he’d never had sex with any under-aged girls.
Breaking down in tears, he sobbed, “I didn’t do this stuff. This is not me. I am fighting for my f****** life.”
