The acting Managing Director of the iconic Nzoia sugar factory has been pronounced dead, almost two months after he was attacked by goons in Bungoma.

Michael Kulundu 54, died on Thursday morning after undergoing treatment at both Bungoma West Hospital and the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu.

He was attacked by goons along the Bungoma Webuye Highway on 3rd January.

He suffered multiple injuries including a scar on the head, dislocated shoulder, cuts on the right hand, chest and lower limbs.

Secretary General of the Nzoia Sugar Company Workers Union Macdonald Wamacho and MCA Joram Wanjala (Bukembe East ward) visited Mr. Kulundu at the hospital.

They condemned the attack and called on police to move with speed and arrest the suspects.

“We understand there are brokers, those looking to eat from the company and those fighting the MD over privatisation issues, the incident might have followed that trend, let the government issue MDs with armed bodyguards,” Mr. Wamacho said.
