Nzoia Sugar’s acting managing Director Michael Kulundu has passed on. The sugar boss’ family confirmed his death in a statement. Kulundu was abducted earlier this year and was only discovered hours later in a trench where he had been left for dead.
He was briefly admitted at Bungoma West private hospital in Kanduyi town where he was receiving treatment after the abduction but was later transferred to Agha Khan Hospital in Kisumu. “Kulundu (54) suffered multiple injuries including a scar on the head, dislocated shoulder, cuts on the right hand, chest and lower limbs,” a medical officer said .
On January 2, Kulundu was kidnapped from a hotel along the Kanduyi-Webuye Highway.He was rescued by a driver who took him to Bungoma West hospital in Kanduyi town. According to Nzoia Sugar Company Workers Union Secretary General Macdonald Wamacho, the attack was linked to forces opposed to the privatization of the sugar mill.
