‘Its too late’, Facebook’s new privacy measures slammed

A Wednesday Facebook announcement that it will be tightening its privacy measures was met by skeptics, and similarly outright naysayers.

Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerbag announced the introduction of a new privacy-focused messaging service, saying, “As I think about the future of the internet, I believe a privacy-focused communications platform will become even more important than today’s open platforms.”

But no one would buy it.

Some said that the announcement is long overdue especially since Facebook has time and again been probed over its lack of user privacy without making amends.

Tech expert Ashtan Soltani further cited that this is but a PR stunt by Facebook to see that it keeps topping among social networks.

“…this move is entirely a strategic play to use privacy as a competitive advantage & further lock-in Facebook as the dominant messaging platform,” he tweeted.
