Francis Atwoli tells Ruto to stop digging his own grave

On the 9th of March 2018, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his fiercest political rival Raila Odinga, publicly announced a truce, and promised to work together to stop the country’s slide into anarchy following a deeply bruising 2017 political contest.

The meeting was a surprise, following the name calling and gloves – off punches, that framed the dragged out 2017 campaign season.

According to COTU boss, Uhuru has decided to work with Raila and there is no one who can stop the handshake.

Atwoli who has previously told off Ruto saying that the Luhya community cannot waste their time negotiating with him since he doesn’t have the instruments of power said by fighting the president who is a symbol of National unity, Ruto was digging his own grave.

“The head of state is a symbol of national unity in any country and when you are serving that head of state then he becomes like a father to you; you cannot fight your father, you will be the loser ” ATwoli said

Some leaders from Western region have ruled out an alliance with Deputy President William Ruto in the 2022 succession politics.
The leaders said they would only negotiate with President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga to support a candidate from the Mulembe nation for the presidency.
