Fate of school boy facing possible murder charges

St. Joseph's Nyabigena Boys High School.

Future of a secondary school student I potentially bleak as prosecution may prefer murder charges against him following a death of his colleague which happened last week.

Isaiah Mirinya, a school prefect, at St. Joseph’s Nyabigena Boys High School in Kisii has been in police custody since February 27.

He was taken to the Nyamarambe Police Station over the murder of Kevin Omwando three days earlier.

“We want more that time to complete investigations, a postmortem, mental assessment, recording of statements and gather more evidence,” the Prosecution said.

Ogembo Resident Magistrate Gloria Barasah granted the application to hold him for five more days.

The suspect is likely to be arraigned at the Kisii High Court to answer to the charges.

Committing murder is contrary to Section 203 as read with Section 204 of the Penal Code.
