Liverpool Legend set up for management role

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler is set to step up into management, according to reports in Australia.

The Reds hero is currently an ambassador at Liverpool FC, but the Sydney Morning Herald claims he is on the verge of a big change.

The Herald say: “Robbie Fowler,  the man otherwise known as ‘God’ – is firming as the favourite to take over as Brisbane Roar’s new coach.

“The former Liverpool  great, who also played for North Queensland Fury and Perth Glory in his twilight years, was one of the first names linked with the gig after John Aloisi stepped down in December.

“Now 43, Fowler is understood to have seriously impressed Roar powerbrokers throughout the interview process with his forensic knowledge of the team, the competition and his plans for the club.”

Fowler, who bagged an incredible 171 goals in 330 games during his first spell with the Reds, went on to play two seasons in the Australian A-League.

He has previously had a coaching role with Liverpool’s academy and a stint of specialised work with the club’s strikers.

More immediately, Robbie will be lining up for Liverpool legends in a charity game in aid of the Sean Cox Rehabilitation Trust at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.
