Liverpool have reportedly asked RB Leipzig to keep them updated regarding the future of Timo Werner.

The striker’s contract expires in 2020 and he is currently keen on a move to Bayern Munich. However, Leipzig have stressed the Germany international will only be sold on their terms, and will depart in the summer rather than on a free transfer at the end of his deal if he decides not to stay with the club.

Werner has angered Leipzig after agreeing personal terms with Bayern despite the Bavarians not yet contacting the club, opening the door for the likes of Liverpool to steal a march on the competition if they wish to sign the striker.

And according to SportBild, Liverpool have contacted RBL to ‘signal their interest’, as they look to be kept up to date with the player’s situation.

Jurgen Klopp is a long-time admirer of Werner, while Liverpool have a good relationship with RBL following the deal to sign Naby Keita.
