KANU official appears in court after falling victim to fraud

Kenya African National Union Chief Executive Officer Joseph Towett on Tuesday got a hearing at the Milimani Court over forging of his car’s logbook.

A couple was put to the stand for being the suspected criminals.

Businessman Perminus Gwaro and his wife Dorcas Oloo are accused of altering the document with the intent to defraud.

The offences, according to the State, happened on November 24, 2017.

β€œOn November 24, 2017 at Milhan Access Capital Limited at Westlands, within Nairobi County, with intent to defraud, knowingly and fraudulently obtained credit by false pretense using a forged logbook for motor vehicle registration KBU 276K of Sh400,000,” the charge reads.

The two both denied the charges.

The State sought to have the two cases consolidated.

The case will be heard on May 15. The State is expected to call two witnesses.
