Kenyans heavily descended on President Uhuru Kenyatta after a photo of the head of state interacting with high school students through a fence went viral online. Uhuru, has over the years redefined his role as the down to earth president, but there was nothing humble about the manner which he chose to interact with students from St Bakhita Kiburia girls in Kirinyaga county.
In the photo, the excited teens are seen crowding at what looks like the school fence as the President and his entourage of people pass on greetings. From the photos, it was clear Uhuru had no intentions of making his way to the school as he was already scheduled to be present at the sixth devolution conference.
It goes without saying that the president meant no harm and was only out to appreciate the awed students but unforgiving Kenyans would not give him a break.
Taking to the vocal Twitter platform , sections of critics argued Uhuru treated the school girls like subordinates since he apparently failed to make the effort to actually meet them in proper settings. Other hawk-eyed observers claimed the sight was very synonymous to someone who was interacting with inmates at a prison.
