The now former sports Cabinet secretary Richard Echesa on Tuesday formally handed over the sports,culture and heritage(MOSCA) docket to the incoming former Education CS Amina Mohammed.
The ceremony took place at the Sports Ministry offices where he took the chance to thank President Uhuru Kenyatta for appointing him to the position.
“At the handover ceremony to the incoming Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed. I once again President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto for considering me amongst 50 Million Kenyans to serve my country in the capacity of a CS,”
He further stated:”I wish CS Amina the best in her new role.”
Echesa on Saturday said Uhuru has the power as the appointing authority to hire and fire thus he has no objection to what has befallen him.
Echesa was speaking at a burial ceremony at Amarinda in Kakamega county.
“The president has constitutional powers as the appointing authority to hire and fire. So what happened yesterday I also saw it on television and so I am waiting for answers to be told what I did wrong,” Echesa said.
Echesa was appointed as a CS in January 2018.
