Arsenal youngster Amaechi gets on the radar of European giant

Amaechi is a winger by trade and has been on target a few times in Premier League 2 this season, which has attracted the interest of Bayern Munich. Following the success of fellow English youngster, Jadon Sancho, this term, it is understood that Bundesliga leaders, Borussia Dortmund, are also tempted to make a move for Amaechi themselves, who also qualifies to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Scouts from a number of other German clubs were expected to be in attendance for Arsenal Under-23s’ meeting with Swansea City Under-23s yesterday. This comes after Bayern Munich were persistently on the case of Chelsea’s teenage sensation, Callum Hudson-Odoi, during the January transfer window, submitting as many as four bids which ran in excess of $42 million. However, Maurizio Sarri, who commented that Bayern were being disrespectful in their pursuit of Hudson-Odoi, came out the happier of the two parties for now as the Bundesliga giants failed in their pursuit with the Premier League club refusing to accept any of the bids from Bayern Munich.

On his part, Amaechi is an exciting dribbler with a dangerous left-peg. Arsenal’s official club website describes him as a classy player on the ball. “2017/18 proved to be a breakthrough year for Xavier. Not only did he show his quality for the under-18s, scoring 10 goals in 15 appearances, including five in the FA Youth Cup, he also made six starts in the Premier League 2, recording three assists as one of the side’s main sources of creativity,” the website adds.

Niko Kovac’s Bayern Munich are not the only team monitoring Amaechi. It is believed that clubs from Spain, Italy and France are also tracking his development at the Emirates Stadium ahead of potentially tabling a bid for him in the summer. What are your thoughts?
