Yet, in his weekly column in the Daily Mail, Jamie Redknapp has criticised Big Rom.

Redknapp has used Tottenham’s Harry Kane as a comparison tool, arguing that Lukaku is not on the same level as Spurs’ striker:

At his best, defenders cannot handle Lukaku’s pace and physicality, but he often lacks the clever movement.

Harry Kane may not be the quickest but his intelligent movement allows him to create his own chances from all manner of positions.

Since the start of last season, Kane has scored eight goals against Tottenham’s top-six rivals. Lukaku has scored just one in that time, against Chelsea in February 2018.

Kane is the fourth top scorer in the league.

Despite being sidelined this season with injury, the England striker has 16 goals in the top flight. Four of those goals have been penalties.

Lukaku has 12 goals this season. Paul Pogba is Man United’s penalty-taker.
