Thumbing Charlie; father to the Everton ball boy comes clear on what transpired after the game

Liverpool went to the field fora win in an attempt to shield away their fast pressing Manchester City but the game ended upside down and against their wish and plan but goalless draw at Everton was not the most exciting in the Merseyside derby.

In fact, it was what happened at full-time that has gained plenty of attention after Jurgen Klopp confronted a Toffees ball boy who appeared to have clapped him sarcastically.

Many believe that the ball boy was ridiculing the Manager for the day’s match play but it is different.

Rival fans loved what the youngster did as Klopp walked across the pitch to thank Reds fans for their support, sparking the German manager to alter his path and react.

The pink-shirted ball boy stood his ground and continued to clap as they shared a few words and his father has now revealed what was said in his exchange with the German boss.

Steve Callaghan confirmed his son Charlie had sarcastically clapped Klopp, quoting a tweet about the incident saying “He most certainly did. That’s my boy”.

He then continued to discuss the incident on social media before making his account private, stating it was “just a bit of banter between Charlie and Klopp at the end.

“No threats by Klopp or Charlie.”All good natured what the Derby is all about.

“Charlie just asked him what he thought about the World Cup final…”

It seems the frustration of a 0-0 draw in the Derby didn’t get the better of Klopp entirely, and he was still able to enjoy some good natured banter.

The result was a huge blow to their Premier League title hopes, with Manchester City edging one point clear at the top of the table after the weekend’s result.

The battle between the two clubs looks set to go right down to the wire with Pep Guardiola’s side gaining a narrow advantage for the time being.

Klopp’s side host Burnley in a must win game next Sunday and they will also be back in Champions League action as they head to Germany to take on Bayern Munich mid next week.
