Nairobi governor Mike Sonko is mourning the death of his grandmother. She passed away on Sunday night after collapsing.
Confirming the sad news, director of communications at the Governor’s Press Service Elkana Jacob posted:
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko mourns the death of his grandmother, Fatuma Swaleh Ali. The late passed on Sunday night after collapsing. Sonko describes his late grandmother as a role model and an inspiration to generations.
This comes barely 24 hours after Sonko celebrated his 44 birthday. Celebrating his birthday, he showered his late mother with praise. His message read:
On such a wonderful day at exactly 5:23pm, my all time woman crush Saumu Mbuvi Mukami brought forth into the world a bouncing baby boy in the name of Mike Mbuvi Sonko who by Grace of God is the current Governor of Nairobi.
I’m now a year older and I have another reason to celebrate life.
To all the wonderful birthday wishes, I say thank you so much and I want to once again assure all Nairobians and Kenyans at large of my commitment to serve you all with dedication.
