Blow for Manchester United as winger is ruled out for two months!

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have to work without one of his forwards for up to two months after the extent of Alexis Sanchez’s injury has been revealed. The Chilean is set to be out for 6-8 weeks after suffering knee ligament damage against Southampton, in what was a rare start for the much-maligned Manchester United man.

His manager feared the worse immediately after the game saying:

“It might be his ligaments. We’ll do the scan tomorrow. Hopefully, it won’t be too bad but we won’t know until we’ve done the scans.

“Of course, we’ll have to wait until then.”

Well, now they do know the extent of the injury which rules him out of the second leg against PSG as well as a whole host of league games and United’s crucial FA Cup quarter-final away at Wolves.

This injury comes at a poor time for Sanchez who had just been getting his way back into United’s first XI, having started three out of the last five Premier League games. However, he will now miss almost all of the rest of the campaign having already missed the whole of December with a hamstring injury.

In six weeks time, the minimum time frame required for Sanchez to recover from his latest injury, United fact Everton away followed by what could be the biggest game of the Premier League season, Man City at home. That game could decide the Premier League title, with just one point separating City and Liverpool at the top of the table.
